Email marketing is tricky but effective if done strategically. If not done correctly your intended customers will not get your emails. There many things that I could discuss that I would be writing for hours! :-) So, let me pick one important factor to discuss: making proper subject lines for your email campaigns. When people are are scanning their emails you have to grab their attention immediately or they will delete your message. It needs to be short and to the point. Example: If I was sending an email offering my social media marketing service to travel professionals specializing in German tourists traveling to the US, my subject line would be: German travelers book US trips with Facebook. This subject line is interesting and a good percentage of my intended audience will open this e-mail. Hope this helps.

I agree that internet marketing is imperative to the success of small businesses. However, in my experience, I haven't had much luck with email marketing. Many of the the intended receivers do not get the email due to spam blockers. I wonder if Dee has any suggestions on enhancing email marketing.

Thanks Blank Stage, her interview was very informative.

Still cannot see the Thrive America videos.
I have no trouble seeing any other videos.
If I am the only one, never mind.
How do you KNOW if I am the only one?

There are many examples of corporations that use soical media to market and address customer needs. Blue Cross Blue Shield NC, feautured an insured doinga 650 mile walk and held health/fitness workshops along the route. This was on Facebook. What great publicity that was, I believe the local media picked up the story.
The Red Cross has started to used Facebook to organize donation drives.

One suggestion that I'd like to add to this dialog is to look a little beyond the "poster child" platforms that are there and you will get some real insight on how to use this medium of collaboration.

Examples include threadless.com and istock.com that have been incredibly successful tapping into the network effect whcih is one of the core aspects of this social media wave.
