Considering the views and perspectives of your target audience is the key and an on-going commitment for any indie filmmaker.  If you can tackle this early and do some focus groups and see what your target audience is thirsty for you, you will be a leg up and add in some elements.  

A few ideas come to mind...

An example could be made the horror genre.  You have a scene in the movie where a character can &quot;die&quot; in a multiple of ways.  Based on your target audience you learn they text on phones ALL the time.  Can you incorporate this idea into the scene so your target audience can relate to the characters in the movie?  

During your production you can also make some marketing mistakes.   Try a lot of stuff out and see what sticks and what you like to do.  Maybe the idea of doing a blog is the worst thing ever, but tackling a twitter campaign seems OK you.</description>

I agree that the educational market is a great area to target. However, it&#039;s still a challenge. One thing that I learned while making LIFE: 101 is that just because it&#039;s a good message, many people may still disagree or feel that it&#039;s offensive or inappropriate. 

For example, the film shows the consequences of teens having sex, i.e. abortions. Although these are real scenarios happening today and our youth need to hear and see the truth, many organizations feel that it&#039;s inappropriate.

I also suggest to other filmmakers to still convey your message but also consider other&#039;s views and perspectives within your targeted market even if it is a positive film.</description>

		<description>I remember an ambitious  filmmaker at a festival and become inspired by some things he did to market his indie film at the there:

1. He gave away free neon necklaces
2. He attended every other film he could to show support and built great relationships with the other filmmakers
3. In the city of the festival he reached out to every indie film online hub there was, local meet-up, facebook and Myspace sites to promote his viewing

I was so impressed with his efforts.

Some more ideas that are coming out... 

1. Pre-sells.  Another way to market ur film AND raise money. 

2. Sell screen credits. I have seen people sell screen credits at the end.  &quot;See your name in the credits... for $50&quot;.   

3. POSTERS: Can you create your movie poster EARLY,  before the the movie is shot?  Get your cast together and take some shots and get a few teaser posters pn the websites, on social media, FB fanpages, filcker, etc. 

4. IMBD - The Internet Movie Database.  I believe you can let them know the film is being produced. </description>

		<description>As a film student, I found this very interesting. The marketing aspects of the film from the log line to the synopsis was helpful. The marketing work that goes into a film from pre to post production was very interesting. I am going to make movies and I think she had some great pointers for that goal.</description>
